Postcards Cafe is located in Hanelei, near North Shore Kauai condos. The restaurant is known for its delicious seafood and natural cuisine. It uses fresh-mostly organic ingredients and has a creative menu. The vintage dining room has beautiful views of the mountains and features whitewashed walls and beamed ceilings. First taste: “Pupus” features taro fritters and seafood rockets with pineapple chutney. Also, porcini-crusted scallops. blogsmonroe celebrity chefs Seared Cajun-crusted Shi with chipolte chili sauce. Crab quesadillas. Organic Caesar or garden salads. Delicious soups and chowders. Entrees include blackened or grilled fresh fish, the Sombrero, which is a chile/com/black beans/tomato treat, and the Shanghai with sauteed tofu and crisp vegetables in a tamari glaze. The Seafood Sorrento is a delicious seafood pasta that features fish, shrimp, Kalamata olives and mushrooms in a garlic white sauce. The Francesca is a puttanesca pasta made with sherry marinara and wasabi-shoyu ginger sauce. You can find delicious desserts, organic coffee, teas, and juices as well as some amazing specials every night. The bar is open every night from 6 o’clock. Reservations are highly recommended.
Saffron Mediterranean Cuisine can be found on the grounds Pali Ke Kua near the luxurious Princeville condo resort. This is the North Shore’s latest fine dining experience. Saffron was created by Joaquin Menendez, the chef-owner. He had a vision to share his authentic Mediterranean cuisine with Kauai. Joaquin was trained in Mexico City, Paris Ritz-Escoffier Masters program, and has now divided his menu into three distinct categories: Ia Espana; Ia Italia; and Ia Grecia. Tapas with Sauteed Mushrooms and Garlic Lime Prawns or a Tortilla Espanola Potato Frittata are Ia Espana options. These include traditional Paella with seafood, chicken, and vegetables, seasoned with saffron; Almond Crusted Ahi; and Slow Roasted Pork topped off with cranberry cheese crumbles. You can make your own crispy and delicious pizzetas. These, along with a Caesar Salad made with romaine hearts, make Ia Italia starters for pastas such as Pasta Primavera or Mushroom Ravioli, Penne Alfredo, Penne Alfredo, and Ossobucco. This is a tender veal shank, served with garlic polenta, fresh asparagus, and Penne Alfredo. A large selection of international wines is available, including whites from Galicia, the Basque region in Spain, France, Italy and California.
CJ’s Steak & Seafood can be found in Princeville Shopping Center, near luxury Kauai condos. CJ’s reputation rests on great food and reasonable prices. CJ’s-Sized portions combined with mouthwatering entrees is what keeps locals and visitors coming back. You can choose from steamed white or rice pilaf, and the Salad Bar offers a selection of Kauai-grown vegetables and fruits. All dinner entrees come with hot rolls. “Come Hungry!” O ke kai, which means “come hungry!”, includes fresh catch-of-the-day prepared broiled or baked, sauteed, Cajun or Cajun, a delicious CJ’s Shrimp Dinner Hanalei-style steamed with butter, white wine and lemon juice, a Macadamia Coconut battered version, or Teriyaki Style. There’s also Lotta Lobster, Alaska’s best cracked and steamed King Crab. O ka aina, or “from the land”, features Prime Rib slow-roasted in herbs and spices until juicy perfection, midwestern corn-fed Angus Beef Steaks, a fantastic New Zealand Rack Of Lamb, Teriyaki Chicken Breasts and Danish Barbequed baby back Pork Ribs simmered with a delicious barbeque sauce. Ask about the daily dessert specials, but make sure to order the Mud Pie. Enjoy your meal in the Tsunami bar, which offers colorful and informative views of Hawaii’s tsunami’s. Every weekend, live Hawaiian music is played while you dine.
Hanalei Gourment – While you’re enjoying the fun-in-the-sun North Sore pleasures, make sure to stop by the Hanalei Gourmet for lunch or dinner. The Old Hanalei School House has been renovated and offers a unique dining experience in a friendly, Aloha-friendly environment. The Hanalei Gourmet is dedicated to providing the best fresh local produce, including dolphin-free tuna and low-sodium beef. They also offer fresh-baked whole-grain breads. Primo Pupus include Shrimp “Old Bay”, a boiling of unpeeled shrimp in broth with melted butter and cocktail sauce, served with French baguette and Sauteed Mussels. You can choose from Fresh Catch Crab Cakes or Scallops Meuniere. Fresh black pepper and garlic are served with fresh cremini mushrooms sauce. A daily blackboard Pasta Du Jour is available, as well as a delicious Greek Pasta with mixed greens and foccacia bread. Hot favorites from the grill include Hanalei Moa Sandwich pineapple sauce on a Kaiser roll with french fries, and “The Works!” The crew of “Big Tim”, including his crew, boasts a tropical bar with live music by various Kauai musicians. Hanalei Gourmet can also provide a cooler or a backpack for a hike along the Na Pali coast or a paddle up a river.
Polynesia Cafe: Polynesia Cafe was quickly recognized as one of Kauai’s most distinctive dining experiences. Polynesia Cafe was an outdoor cafe that opened in Hanalei. It had a small, casual atmosphere and was determined to keep to a high quality standard: fresh food made from scratch, affordable pricing, and a generous serving of Aloha. Thames Goodwin says, “We tell people that we aren’t in the restaurant industry.” “We are in entertainment and our job it is to make people happy with amazing food and great service. Polynesia Cafe delivered gourmet food and plastic utensils, much to the delight of Hanalei customers. There is now a second Polynesia Cafe in Kapaa. The same great food as the original, plus much more. You won’t find better food anywhere. High quality gourmet food at street cafe prices. Hanalei does not offer alcohol service, but you are welcome to bring your own. There is also no corkage charge. Kapaa offers a wide range of unique beverages to make your dining experience memorable. An outstanding entree item at Polynesia Cafe is their Shanghai Ahi, sashimi grade ahi, served and finished in an orange-ginger-pineapple glaze served with rice and fresh steamed vegetables.
